The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) has appointed an acting chief executive ahead of the departure of Tom Garcia on 10 March.

AIST executive manager for governance and stewardship Eva Scheerlinck will be acting chief executive of the lobby group during the search for a new chief executive.

Current chief executive Tom Garcia resigned in December 2016 to take up the role of head of product at AustralianSuper.

The organisation is currently interviewing candidates to select a replacement for Mr Garcia.
