Mr Smith joins the company from AMP Capital, were he worked as a senior credit analyst for more than six years, and was also the company’s primary analyst for public private partnership assets for more than three years.
Bentham Asset Management managing director Richard Quin said the appointment would support the company in providing investors with access to actively managed global credit.
“Linden is well regarded and brings with him extensive experience and industry insights, we look forward to him joining the team,” he said.
Mr Quin said actively managed credit strategies will have “an important role to play” in portfolios as investors continue to contend with historically low interest rates.
“Going forward, investors will need to re-consider their fixed income portfolios in super and what will best serve them over the next period of time,” he said.
