Tony Sacre has been named as the new chief executive officer of the Sydney Stock Exchange, making the move from ANZ.

Prior to the appointment with Sydney Stock Exchange (SSX), Mr Sacre was a part of ANZ’s International Business Origination function, and has worked in financial markets for over 20 years, in which time he has held senior positions at a number of businesses, including Commonwealth Bank, NAB, NSBC New York and JP Morgan.

"It’s an exciting time to be joining SSX, which is poised to be a strong alternative listings venue and marketplace,” Mr Sacre said.

"The Sydney Stock Exchange name brings a proud heritage of a marketplace for growth companies in Australia, and we are keen to rebuild the Sydney Stock Exchange’s standing as a significant capital market both within Australia and now also throughout Asia.”

SSX chair George Wang said Mr Sacre would play a critical role in shaping the marketplace’s future, adding that his experience would serve the business well.

“We welcome Tony to SSX. He brings strong expertise and complementary skills in trade and capital flows between Australia and Asia, financial services education, and working with corporates and regulatory agencies,” he said.

“Tony will be an important leader in our drive and determination to create a vibrant marketplace for growth companies in Australia and throughout Asia."
