Former NAB executive Ashley Warmbrand has been named as Vanguard Australia’s new head of legal and compliance, commencing in October.

Mr Warmbrand was previously NAB’s head of risk and audit governance, and has held a number of roles both with the bank.

Prior to serving at NAB, Mr Warmbrand worked for a number of other companies such as Herbert Smith Freehills, Clarendon Lawyers, and Centro Properties Group, and in 2000 was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of Australia.

Vanguard Australia managing director Colin Kelton said Mr Warmbrand’s 15-plus years of experience in both financial and professional services would be a great gain for the business.

“Ashley will bring a great deal of experience to this critical function of Vanguard Australia’s business, and ultimately help us deliver better outcomes for our clients.

“We look forward to welcoming him to Vanguard in our milestone 20th anniversary year,” he said.

Mr Warmbrand replaces outgoing head of legal and compliance Cynthia Liu, who moved to London to take up a similar role for the business’ international division.

In addition to his new role, Mr Warmbrand will sit on the board of Vanguard Australia as the company’s secretary.
