Morningstar hires new research director

Research house Morningstar has appointed Chris Douglas to the role of director of manager research ratings Asia-Pacific.

Mr Douglas will lead the company’s manager research and ratings team across Australia and New Zealand, and will be based in Auckland reporting to Morningstar global practice leader of manager research Grant Kennaway.

Kathryn Young, who previously held the role of director of manager research ratings Asia-Pacific, will be leaving the company.

Mr Douglas takes on this role after two years working as a senior leader in the company’s North American data business, prior to which he jointly led Morningstar’s local manager research team.

Mr Kennaway said Mr Douglas will bring “extensive experience of Australian and New Zealand fund managers and funds” to the role.

Though Mr Douglas will be based in New Zealand, Mr Kennaway said Mr Douglas will visit Australia regularly.
