ANZ has appointed an acting chief economist following the departure of Warren Hogan, who left the company to "pursue other opportunities".

Richard Yetsenga has been named ANZ's acting chief economist, replacing Mr Hogan until the search for a new chief economist is complete.

ANZ acting managing director for markets, Shayne Collins, said: “We are fortunate to have an economist with Richard’s experience in financial markets able to step in while we search for a permanent replacement.”

Mr Yetsenga joined ANZ in 2011 and was most recently global head of financial markets research. He has also held previous positions with HSBC, Deutsche Bank and the Australian government.

Commenting on his resignation, Mr Hogan said it was not an “easy decision to leave such as rewarding role”.

“[However,] the timing is right to pursue other opportunities and spend more time with my young family,” he said.

Mr Collins thanked Mr Hogan for his “significant contribution” over the past 10 years, wishing him well for the future.
