Maritime Super appoints new director

Industry fund Maritime Super has appointed a new independent director to its board.

Former Medicare chief executive Lynelle Briggs has been appointed to replace John Coombs following his retirement.

Maritime Super chief executive Peter Robertson said the appointment will "complement the depth of knowledge on our board".

“Our vision is to be the fund of choice for all participants in the maritime industry by providing quality services and leading benefits to members, while partnering effectively with employers – Ms Briggs will provide a strong contribution to our culture and objectives,” Mr Robertson said .

Maritime Super chair Paddy Crumlin said Ms Briggs' professionalism and experience are "second to none".

"[Ms Briggs] is highly respected and recognised, [with a] career in policy, strategy, regulation, operations and senior governance and executive leadership, both from a private and public perspective,” Mr Crumlin said.
