Nikko AM makes raft of executive hires

Tokyo-based Nikko Asset Management has appointed four new executives in an effort to strengthen its institutional sales and marketing functions.

Nikko AM has named Fred DeSerio as the head of sales in the United States where he will be responsible for developing business in the institutional investment market in North America.

The asset manager also hired Peter Knight, Daisuke Kono, and Cameron Kuwahara to its institutional marketing and proposition division.

“Mr Knight joined the company on 1 January as head of global product specialists,” a statement from Nikko AM said.

“Based in Tokyo, [Mr Knight] will help drive the global sales effort by helping the firm articulate its product messaging from an investment perspective.

“Mr Kono, based in Tokyo, has been named head of international institutional materials on 1 February 2015,” the statement said. “Mr Kuwahara joined the company on 2 February 2015 as head of solutions, marketing based in Edinburgh, Scotland.”

Nikko AM head of institutional marketing and proposition Stefanie Drews said the company is “extremely pleased” to have made these appointments.

“These hires show our commitment to elevating our position in the institutional marketplace, both within Japan and globally,” Ms Drews said.
