Big Sky Building Society has appointed former Coles head of digital and loyalty to the newly created role of general manager of products, strategy and marketing.

The Australian Unity subsidiary has appointed Nathan McEwan to the newly created position, which Big Sky says now completes its leadership team.

Mr McEwan's appointment follows the recent addition of Mathew Chan to the role of head of operations and projects.

Prior to his appointment, Mr McEwan worked for Coles Liquor as head of digital and loyalty.

He has also held positions with AHM by MediBank Private and retail department store chain Target.

“[Mr McEwan] has a diverse product and marketing background spanning 14 years and several industries including banking, travel, health and retailing,” Big Sky chief executive Robert Bell said.

"His skill set will be invaluable as we look to grow the breadth and depth of the product services available to our customer base, and increase awareness with existing and new customer bases of the benefits of banking with a building society over a big bank.”

"Employer groups will be a particular target for Big Sky during 2015, and there has already been some encouraging developments in this area,” Mr Bell said.
