Vanguard has appointed a new senior economist for the Asia Pacific region in an effort to expand its global investment strategy group.

Dr Qian Wang, who will be based in Hong Kong, has been appointed as a senior economist for the Asia Pacific.

Vanguard chief economist Joseph Davis said that since the Asia Pacific region is a “dynamic and rapidly growing region” it is time it appointed a senior economist in the area.

Prior to joining Vanguard, Dr Wang worked on macro research and strategic development at a sovereign wealth fund in Asia.
