BT Financial Group will increase the size of its technical team in the life insurance division, naming a number of new appointments.
In a statement, BT announced “technical expert” Rachel Leong will join the company as product technical manager, life insurance.
Ms Leon previously spent 10 years working at Suncorp Life and has extensive experience working with financial advisers to implement strategies for clients, according to the statement.
Senior product technical manager Katherine Ashby said she was “thrilled” by the addition to her team.
“Rachel has a strong background in technical roles with a life insurance focus, a specialty that is very hard to find,” she said.
“Her addition increases head count in the LifeTech team and means we can provide more support to both our dealer group and financial adviser partners.”
The statement suggested the new role would involve “writing technical articles on life insurance advice, providing strategy support to advisers, presenting at professional development days and conferences, and supporting the broader insurance business at BT”.
Ms Leong said she was looking forward to joining the company.
“The LifeTech team at BT provide a real value-add to advisers, by supporting them with understanding complex industry issues as well as technical product topics, so they have the information they need to ensure clients are protected should the unexpected happen,” she said.
BT also announced that insurance specialist Russell Hannah had been appointed as the regional manager for NSW/ACT in the group's life insurance division.
Mr Hannah will head up the business development team operating across the IFA, aligned and bank financial adviser channels.
According to a statement by BT, Mr Hannah has over 15 years’ industry experience and previously worked as the national insurance manager at MLC.
