The asset management business of Voya Financial, Voya Investment Management, has appointed Jean-Dominique Bütikofer as head of emerging market fixed income investing.

Mr Bütikofer will be responsible for directing the investment strategy for emerging markets, including sovereign and corporate debt, macro analysis, country research, sovereign risk, local rates and asset allocation across sub-asset classes.

Most recently he was head of emerging markets fixed income for macro, sovereign and currencies at Union Bancaire Privee, a franchise he launched in 2006.

Prior to that, he was with Julius Baer Asset Management in Zurich from 1998-2005 where he served as senior fund manager and head of emerging markets fixed income.

Mr Bütikofer also worked as a bond trader and portfolio manager at UBS earlier in his career.

Voya Investment Management's head of public fixed income, Matt Toms, said Mr Bütikofer’s 18 years of experience in emerging markets will “further strengthen Voya IM’s fixed income team and its offerings”.
