Henderson has appointed Rob Gambi to the role of chief investment officer as it continues its growth plans across global markets.

Reporting directly to Henderson CEO Andrew Formica, Mr Gambi will lead and develop Henderson’s investment capabilities globally, including its growing resources in the United States and Asia.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Formica said “Rob is a highly regarded investment professional and is recognised for his investment and business acumen.

“His global knowledge is a critical attraction to us as we continue the development of our international businesses including a greater number of our investment professionals residing in locations outside of our London office,” he said.

Mr Formica said the company in the past few years had been focusing on its core strengths in global and European equities, absolute return, multi-asset and global fixed income.

“With the current momentum in the business, and with Rob’s help, we are well set for our next phase of growth,” he said.

Mr Gambi said he’d known Mr Formica since 1995 during his time at AMP Asset Management and has been impressed with the progress of Henderson under his leadership.

“I am excited to be joining a business with strong foundations and I am looking forward to playing a part in the next phase of its development as a truly global asset manager,” he said.

He will join Henderson from his previous role as group managing director and global head of fixed income at UBS global asset management, where he was responsible for over US$230 billion. He was also a member of the executive committee of UBS Global Asset Management.
