GPT has named Michael Cameron as its new chief executive and promoted Ken Moss to chairman.

GPT Group has appointed former St George Bank chief financial ofiicer Michael Cameron as its chief executive and managing director, effective 1 May.

The group has also promoted director Ken Moss to chairman of the board and appointed Lim Swe Guan as a new non-executive director.

Lim's appointment follows a capital raising in October last year, which resulted in the GPT board offering Singapore government vehicle GIC Real Estate the opportunity to nominate a director.

GPT said the appointments placed the group in a strong position to progress its strategy and to deal with the challenges facing the Australian real estate investment trust sector.

Morningstar senior equity analyst David Parker said: "Of the three, the director representing the Singapore government has property experience and a good pedigree.

"The other two are somewhat disappointing."
