Swiss investment banking giant UBS will nominate two new directors for election to its board at its upcoming annual general meeting.

The board will nominate Claudia Böckstiegel and Patrick Firmenich to join its board at the AGM on 8 April.

Ms Böckstiegel has been general counsel and a member of the enlarged executive committee of Roche Holding AG since last year.

She joined Roche in 2001 in Germany and has subsequently held a number of global legal leadership positions based in Switzerland.

Meanwhile Mr Firmenich is the chair of Firmenich International SA, the world’s largest privately owned perfume and taste company, and has been since 2016.

He was previously chief executive of the company from 2002 to 2014 and has been a member of its board since 2002.

Previously, Mr Firmenich had held multiple positions across the legal and banking sectors. He has been an international investment banking analyst for Credit Suisse First Boston, as well as legal counsel at Chase Manhattan Bank.

UBS chair Axel Weber commented: “Adding two such experienced executives complements the board’s skills with excellent Swiss and global legal expertise that comes from a highly regulated industry as well as a wealth of experience as chairman and CEO of a global leading Swiss company.

“I greatly look forward to working with them on the board.”
