BT Investment Management names new head

Global fund manager BT Investment Management has named former Fidelity International managing director Michael Bargholz as its new chief executive officer for Australia.

Mr Bargholz has over 25 years’ experience in financial markets, and in addition to his role with Fidelity, has held the title of chief executive and managing director at AllianceBernstein, and managing director of AXA Investment Management New Zealand.

“It will be a privilege to lead such a successful and respected investment management business. I look forward to working with the Australian team and my new colleagues on the global executive committee,” he said.

Commenting on the appointment, BT Investment Management group chief executive and managing director Emilio Gonzalez said he is looking forward to working with Mr Bargholz to pursue “strong long-term investment returns and quality service” and advance the growth of the company.

“Michael is ideally suited to lead BT Investment Management’s Australian business with his deep knowledge of and experience in the industry, his demonstrable leadership qualities and strong client focus,” Mr Gonzalez said.

Mr Bargholz will commence in his new role in October 2016.
