UBS Global Wealth Management has appointed a second senior individual from JBWere as market team head.
Damian Robinson will join the firm in July, marking the second appointment from JBWere for UBS following the hire of Andrew Bird earlier this year.
Based in Sydney from 13 July, the role will see Robinson lead the firm’s client advisers, driving growth and measurable results in their market.
“This appointment underscores our commitment to investing in talent and on-the-ground capabilities in Australia to deliver sustainable, client-driven growth,” UBS said.
He joins from national wealth manager JBWere where he was head of advice for NSW and Queensland for the past five years following five years managing their advice business in Melbourne.
Prior to this, he was an executive director at Morgan Stanley where he managed the private wealth division in Victoria and also worked at Ord Minnett and Deutsche Bank.
He will report to Bird who joined UBS earlier this year as head of UBS GWM Australia and also spent a decade at JBWere in a variety of advice roles including five years as general manager of advice.
At the time, UBS said Bird’s appointment ‘sets the stage’ for the firm’s next phase of growth and strengthen Australia‘s role in the firm’s regional APAC strategy.
“Australia is a critical pillar of our APAC growth strategy, and we continue to increase our footprint, invest in talents and on‑the‑ground capabilities to fully capture the significant growth potential of the market,” the firm stated.
In May, the firm appointed Wayne Gordon as head of advisory and sales. Gordon returns to Australia from Singapore where he has spent 12 years also at UBS in the chief investment office (CIO) as head of investment advisory and content.
UBS noted he has already been working closely with the advisory and sales team in his current role to translate the CIO insights into actionable client solutions.
