Following its recent CEO announcement, HESTA has made an internal promotion to a newly created deputy chief investment officer role.
Having announced a new CEO, HESTA has also promoted internally for a deputy chief investment officer.
The fund has promoted Jeff Brunton to the position, which is a newly-created position for the fund, as well as his existing role as head of portfolio management which he has held at the $100 billion fund since July 2021.
Prior to joining HESTA, Brunton worked as deputy chief investment officer at AMP Life.
Brunton will work alongside HESTA’s chief investment officer, Sonya Sawtell-Rickson, who joined in 2017 from Queensland Investment Corporation.
His promotion comes as it announces ESSSuper chief executive, Robbie Campo, will take over from Debby Blakey as chief executive.
Blakey announced earlier this year that she will be stepping down as CEO after a decade with the $100 billion fund and Campo will take over from August.

As well as Blakey, Stephen Reilly will also step down in the first half of this year from his position as chief operating officer, a role he has held since 2015. This saw him assume responsibility for managing a broad portfolio spanning insurance, investment operations, digital technology, information security and strategy.
