Fintech provider InvestStream has appointed Renato Mota, formerly the chief executive of Insignia Financial, to its advisory board.
InvestStream is an AI-powered technology provider, founded by Jason Hoang (who also co-foundered Xplan), which uses the advanced capabilities to deliver engagement and financial intelligence infrastructure built for financial advisers and institutions.
Its flagship solutions include SUGAI which is a financial modelling infrastructure layer that centralises the rules, assumptions and calculations that underpin professional-grade projections, as well as SuperAnne, an AI-powered conversational engagement platform designed for superannuation and powered by SUGAI.
Still new to the market, InvestStream has bolstered its leadership with the appointment of Mota who brings valuable knowledge and experience from his time in the financial advice sector.
Mota spent more than 20 years at Insignia Financial, most notably as chief executive and managing director of the firm which he held up until his leaving in 2024, though he also held several senior leadership roles during his tenure. The final two years saw Mota join the Financial Services Council (FSC) as non-executive director, alongside his responsibilities at Insignia.
Now joining InvestStream, Mota will work closely with the firm’s leadership team to support institutional partnerships, regulatory alignment and its distribution strategy across the Australia wealth sector.
Hoang said: “Renato has operated at scale within the highest levels of the Australian wealth management ecosystem and deeply understands the operational realities institutional boards are navigating.
“His strategic insight will be invaluable as we deploy our financial intelligence infrastructure, combining the financial modelling power of SUGAI with the conversational engagement of SuperAnne, across Australia’s leading financial institutions.”
Mota added: “The wealth sector has reached a point where traditional, siloed software is no longer economically viable to scale advice. What drew me to InvestStream is that they aren’t just building another interface, they have built a unified, open architecture infrastructure layer, appropriate for regulated environments. This is the exact structural innovation required to safely and efficiently bridge the advice gap for millions of Australians.”
