Exclusive: Merkle Tree Capital has expanded its institutional digital asset offering with the transition of MHC Digital Asset Fund investors into a new unit class and appointed a new portfolio manager.
The new unit class will sit within Merkle’s flagship Digital Asset Fund (DAF), bringing together two established investment track records under one manager.
The move combines MHC’s digital asset investment experience, led by newly appointed portfolio manager Andrew Palmer who joins from MHC Digital Finance.
Palmer joins chief investment officer Ryan McMillin in managing the DAF, strengthening MTC’s portfolio construction and management capabilities while providing former MHC investors with continued access to a professionally managed digital asset strategy.
Merkle Tree Capital is a specialist cryptocurrency investment manager for sophisticated and SMSF investors, offering the Digital Asset Fund and the Bitcoin & Gold Fund.
The digital asset portfolio is backed by MTC’s institutional infrastructure: Coinbase custody, Lloyd’s of London insurance, and independent fund administration through Boutique Capital as trustee.
“Andrew’s track record managing a digital asset fund through multiple market cycles speaks for itself,” said Dean Serroni, CEO of MerkleTree Capital.
“Bringing his experience and investors into MTC strengthens our investment team and gives those investors a clear path forward with the same structure and discipline our existing clients rely on.”
Palmer said he’d watched MTC build a digital asset fund over the past several years.
“It gives investors the benefit of two track records under one manager, without disrupting the disciplined investment approach they’re used to.”
