Towers Watson has hired two people for its investment team.

Alex Misev and Vineta Salale have been hired as an investment consultant and investment analyst, respectively.

"We will continue to invest in research because we believe that rigorous, painstaking research carried out by smart and experienced people is essential if we are to give our clients a competitive edge," Towers Watson investment business leader Graeme Miller said.

"We will therefore continue to recruit opportunistically as good people come along and as our business grows."

Miller said the firm had grown last year but remains cautious about the outlook.

"Our investment consulting business had a good year in 2009 and we welcome three new retainer clients. This pace of growth is in line with our plans," he said.

"We continue to be cautious about our pace of growth to ensure we do not bite off more than we can chew, and our clients are not adversely impacted by us growing too quickly."

In his job at Towers Watson, Misev will research unlisted investments including property and infrastructure.

Misev previously worked in the real estate sector in Europe. His most recent job was with Netherlands-based chemical distribution firm Vesta Intracon as an international investments and finance manager.

Salale, whose previous job was as a credit risk analyst with the Commonwealth Bank, will work in the Australian equity and bond research teams.
