Legal profession superannuation fund legalsuper has appointed former Law Society of New South Wales president Hugh Macken to its board.

Macken was appointed on the nomination of the Law Society of NSW and he replaces outgoing board member Robert Laurie.

Prior to his appointment, Macken spent seven years with the Law Society of NSW, including a year as president in 2008.

He has worked in private legal practice for more than 20 years and is a partner at Sydney law firm Beston Macken McManis.

Legalsuper chairman David Miles said his appointment maintained the strong bond between legalsuper and the Australian legal sector.
