Insurance Adviser Net expands services

General insurance broker, Insurance Adviser Net, has established a financial planning and risk insurance division on the back of demand for additional services from its current client base.
The firm has hired former financial planning and superannuation adviser Ben Semple as general manager financial services and tasked him with managing and growing the financial planning and risk team.
Semple, who was with Genesys Wealth Advisers (Genesys), will be joined by new advisers Ben Travers, who will also join from Genesys and will be based in Sydney, and former PlanWealth staffer Jeff Chung, who will be based in Queensland.
Semple said the firm would also appoint an adviser in its Melbourne office by October. "There are 130 general insurance advisers under Insurance Adviser Net and with the establishment of a financial services arm we see great potential for growth and cross referral opportunities within the firm," Semple said.
"We have also recently joined Fortnum Financial Advisers (Fortnum), as we were impressed with the investment, risk and compliance team that the dealer group had put together and were also attracted by their equity offer for members."
Semple said Insurance Adviser Net was looking to build a significant practice under Fortnum and would hire more financial planners in the near future.
Fortnum, which opened its doors in March, has to date picked up 14 firms, 43 advisers and has over $1.5 billion in funds under advice.
