Edwina Matthew, formerly of Goldman Sachs, has been appointed by BT Investment Management to the newly created role of head of responsible investments.

Ms Matthew has worked in financial services for over 20 years, including seven years with BT in Sydney and New York between 1993 and 2000, before moving to Credit Suisse First Boston and, subsequently, Goldman Sachs’ New York-based currency division.

BTIM Australia chief executive Michael Bargholz said Ms Matthew was well positioned to take on the new role, which will support the inclusion of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in the investment process.

“Edwina’s background in financial services, both domestically and internationally, and her passion for ESG will allow BTIM to continue to build our leadership position in responsible investing and recognises our ongoing commitment to supporting research in this area,” he said.
