Asset management firm Standard Life Investments (SLI) has announced the launch of a new Singapore-based team, led by new Singapore chief executive Choon Wah Wong.

Mr Wong, who has also been named as the company’s head of Asia-Pacific real estate, was formerly Partners Group senior vice president for Singapore, and has 16 years’ experience in direct real estate investment in the Asia-Pacific region.

The four-strong Singapore team will consist of Mr Wong, as well as SLI’s deputy fund manager Ted Roy and associate investment director Jason Lam, who are relocating from Edinburgh and Hong Kong respectively, and Tervinder Chal.

SLI chief investment officer and executive director Rod Paris said the appointment of Mr Wong and the new team will help the company build its presence in Asia-Pacific and “gain deeper insight into regional markets”.
