ING Australia has hired a former BT Financial Group retirement product specialist.

Financial services firm ING Australia has hired a new head of product innovation.

Patrick Clarke has been appointed as ING Australia head of next generation products and services, and will report to ING Australia superannuation and investments general manager Ross Bowden.

He will be responsible for developing and implementing new products, as well as running ING's e-business, which includes Money One, the front end of the Oasis platform and the front ends for ING's employer super and One Answer products.

Clarke has joined ING, which is soon to be renamed OnePath, from BT Financial Group (BTFG), where he worked for almost 12 years.

In his last position at BTFG, he was head of retirement product development.

He worked on the development of BT Super for Life and BT Wrap, and also served as Westpac Financial Planning head of product and research.

Before BTFG, he was head of the pension preparatory team at Aviva - Cofco Life Insurance and also worked as retirement products manager at Advance Funds Management.

He also had a stint as a financial services lawyer with St George Bank.
