BlackRock Australia appoints former AMP Capital executive as its COO.

BlackRock has hired three senior executives in Australia, including former AMP Capital Investors chief financial officer (CFO) Henry Capra as the firm's chief operating officer (COO).

Capra's previous roles also include COO and CFO at Colonial First State.

Orla Fisk has been appointed as BlackRock senior compliance officer.

Most recently, Fisk was Genesys Wealth Advisers head of compliance and operations risk, and before that headed the compliance teams at Challenger Financial Services and Zurich Capital Markets Asia.

BlackRock also appointed Pru Bennett as head of corporate governance.

Bennett comes from Regnan Governance Research and Engagement, where she was responsible for preparing corporate governance analysis for Australia's 200 largest listed companies in her role as head of governance.

She also worked as CGI Glass Lewis director and Qantas Airways investor relations manager.

"BlackRock is committed to building the very best investment and risk management business here in Australia and these appointments are part of our emphasis on maintaining industry leading standards across our operating platform," BlackRock chief executive Damien Frawley said yesterday.

"The quality of these people ensures we are positioned to fulfil our obligations of not only safeguarding investors' interests, but complying strictly with our regulatory and fiduciary obligations," Frawley said.
