Aon switches managers

New firms suited to investment approaches

Aon Consulting has made a number of changes to its master trust options.

Investment manager Aon Consutling has switched managers in two options for the Aon Master Trust.

The firm has appointed Russell Investments to manage its commodities option. The previous investment manager for the commodities option was Macquarie Investment Management.

"Interestingly, Russell employs Macquarie in their fund. We like Russell's multi-manager approach, the investment structure of their fund and the pricing structure. We felt the investment objective adopted by Russell was suited to our investment approach," Aon Consulting chief investment officer Janice Sengupta said.

The Aon Master Trust has also switched managers in its listed global infrastructure option. Vanguard is now the investment manager for the option, replacing BlackRock.

"Vanguard adopted a good defensive benchmark, which will mitigate downside risk. Again it was a combination of investment and business issues including strong risk management and excellent value for superannuation members that drove our decision to appoint Vanguard," Sengupta said.
