Dealer group reinvigorated

A Queensland-based Professional Investment Services firm has joined RI Advice Group.

RI Advice Group (formerly RetireInvest) has recruited a new practice to its network from Professional Investment Services (PIS), the ING Australia-owned dealer group has revealed.

The firm, which is led by principal Mark Tidbury, has offices in Varsity Lakes as well as Rockhampton in Queensland, and has approximately $140 million in funds under management.

Tidbury said the team was focused on substantially growing the business in the medium term, particularly in the areas of funds under management and advice delivery.

"In early 2009 we commenced a review of our licensing options, which included due diligence on a number of dealer groups, with the objective of finding a group that represents the very best in our industry," Tidbury said.

"Our research put RI Advice Group at the forefront of the industry in the areas of intellectual property, systems, technology and advice, and we are very comfortable partnering with the dealer group to increase our business sustainability over time."

Tidbury said both offices would be rebranded to RI Advice Group Varsity Lakes and RI Advice Group/RetireInvest Rockhampton.

RI Advice Group chief executive Paul Campbell said the dealer group had undergone significant change last year and had rebranded to represent a more holistic advice model while at the same time retaining its RetireInvest brand, which had a foothold with pre-retirees.

He said the group had done a lot of work in terms of advice and technology and had also employed a quality independent research team, in order to grow and reinvigorate the group and bring it back to the forefront of the industry.

Campbell said Tidbury's appointment was a vote of confidence in RI Advice Group's new structure and support.
