Mark Ballantyne has left Macquarie to take the reins at Financial Wisdom.

Macquarie Private Wealth executive Mark Ballantyne has departed the firm to lead financial services dealer group Financial Wisdom.

A Colonial First State (CFS) spokesperson confirmed Ballantyne would join the dealer group in the role of general manager.

He takes over the position left vacant by Tim Browne, who was promoted last year to CFS head of advice delivery.

Prior to his role as Macquarie head of business development/division director, Ballantyne held senior financial advice positions with MLC and ING.

In December last year, CFS announced a restructure of its advice divisions, with Browne assuming the role of head of advice delivery, while CFS head of distribution services John Carnevale took on the role of advice academy head.

Other staff changes include head of distribution development Matthew Brown taking on the new role of head of advice development and Commonwealth Financial Planning head of strategy Helen Blackford stepping into the position of head of advice business management.

Ballantyne will take up his new role effective 27 April.
