Mercer realigns management

Poised for growth in Asia Pacific

Mercer looks to build upon its presence in the Asia Pacific region, making significant leadership changes to its investment consulting business.

Mercer has made several leadership changes to its investment consulting business to position itself for further growth in the Asia Pacific market.

Mercer's investment consulting business leader for Australia/New Zealand Simon Eagleton has been appointed to the Asia Pacific investment consulting regional business leader position.

In his new role, Eagleton will build upon Mercer's investment consulting presence in growth markets such as Greater China, India, Singapore and Korea.

He will be responsible for expanding Mercer's global services such as Mercer Sentinel and Mercer's global manager research boutiques. Eagleton will also join Mercer's investment consulting leadership team (ICLT) that oversees the global investment consulting business.

He succeeds Tony Cole, who is taking on a new role centred on key client consulting, intellectual capital thought leadership and representing Mercer with government and other agencies in the Asia Pacific region. Cole will continue as a member of the ICLT.

Meanwhile, Mercer's regional chief operating officer for investment consulting in the Asia Pacific Anthony Lane will assume the leadership of Mercer's global manager research boutiques business. He will take over from Jeff Schutes, the leader of the US investment consulting business.

"Asia Pacific is of particular interest to us, given the wealth of professional and private investors and growing savings pools. This realignment of responsibilities comes at an important time as we continue to build on our presence in growth markets within Asia and reinforce our leadership position in the region," Mercer Asia Pacific regional head Peter Promnitz said.

"We are excited at the prospect of further extending our global manager research boutiques, which takes our research and consulting on investment managers to the next level."
