The integrated MLC and Aviva Australia insurance leadership team has been revealed.

Members of the combined MLC and Aviva Australia (Aviva) insurance leadership team have been announced, with Frank Lombardo appointed to the newly-created position of retail insurance operations general manager.

Formerly group director of operations with Aviva, Lombardo will be responsible for the overall customer experience in retail insurance across underwriting, claims and administration.

"Frank's appointment highlights the importance of the retail market in our insurance strategy," the team's executive general manager of insurance Andrew Hagger said.

"MLC's offer to financial advisers and direct to clients is all about improving the customer experience and helping protect more Australians."

Others that were promoted within MLC to the integrated insurance leadership team included direct, alliances and transformation general manager David Evans, group insurance general manager Andrew Howard, advice product general manager Sean McCormack and technical adviser Graham Morrison.

MLC's parent company, the National Australia Bank, acquired Aviva's wealth management business for $825 million in June last year. The deal included Aviva's life insurance operations and Navigator investment platform.

An MLC spokesperson said while both brand names were currently being used, the phasing out of the Aviva brand would be considered down the track.

"We will also be making further announcements regarding appointments and redeployments for the business over the next couple of months," the spokesperson said.
