Perpetual appoints Aust equities sales manager

By Julie May

Perpetual Investments has appointed Matt Mckinnon to the role of general manager of retail sales for Australian equities.

Formerly the group's general manager of sales for superannuation and investment solutions (SIS), Mckinnon will be succeeded by Perpetual Investments' former senior business development manager for SIS, Paul Norris.

Mckinnon, who has more than 14 years' experience in funds management and investment banking in Australia and overseas, joined Perpetual in 2006.

He previously held senior sales and product development roles at IOOF, Rothschild Australia Asset Management and Portfolio Partners based in Melbourne and at Morgan Stanley International and Merrill Lynch in London.

Perpetual Investments executive for business services Cathy Doyle said Mckinnon's experience made him the right choice for the role, which was critical to the success of Perpetual's Australian equities business.

"Mr Mckinnon has an excellent sales track record. In the past 18 months, the SIS sales team under his leadership has developed significant sales momentum across its key products and was ranked first for platforms sales in 2008 and attained a top 10 market share ranking for Wealthfocus," Doyle said.

Norris brings more than 15 years' experience in financial services to his new role.

Since joining Perpetual in 2005, he has also held the role of senior client services manager.

Prior to joining Perpetual, he worked with ING Australia and a number of investment firms, including AMP, Colonial First State and HSBC.
