Legalsuper has expanded its investment committee with the appointment of Neville Hathaway to the newly created position of investment expert.
"Dr Hathaway brings to legalsuper a unique combination of direct investment management experience at several fund managers and deep financial markets insights from academic research over six years as associate professor of finance at the Melbourne Business School," legalsuper chief executive Andrew Proebstl said.
Hathaway is currently managing director of the Capital Research Group and has held positions with County Investment Management and Invesco Asset Management.
As part of his role Hathaway will attend all investment committee meetings and board meetings as necessary.
There will be no changes to the role of legalsuper's asset consultant JANA Investment Advisers.
"This appointment enhances legalsuper's investment governance by embedding additional expertise into the fund's decision making," Proebstl said.
"Importantly, Dr Hathaway's expertise will significantly enhance the investment committee's capacity to navigate the challenging investment environment that all investors are now dealing with."
