To assist with the implementation of global sustainability principles the South Australian fund has hired a sustainability manager.
Statewide Superannuation Trust (Statewide) has hired Suzanne Ridding to the newly created position of sustainability manager.
Ridding has been employed to assist in the implementation of Statewide's United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment commitments.
"For Statewide, sustainability is not just about considering the environmental and social impact of its decisions today, it's about thinking ahead and ensuring the organisation maintains and continues to develop a robust future for its members financial security," Statewide chief executive Frances Magill said.
Reporting to the also newly appointed investment manager Con Michalakis, Ridding will develop and implement a plan to ensure that environmental, social and economic factors are encouraged and practiced throughout the investment portfolio.
"Suzanne will have responsibility for ensuring sustainability is incorporated into Statewide's business processes and investments," Magill said
"This will come through working with key stakeholders and internal and external customers to develop key initiatives and projects that ensure that Statewide's sustainability objectives are achieved."
Ridding has more than 20 years financial experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in Australia and London.
