A new e-learning program has been launched by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), to improve the knowledge and skills of claims service providers.

The online course has been designed to ensure the service provider understands the claims process, and how they can best offer support to the customer, ANZIIF education development manager Jason Fletcher said.

The self-paced course strongly focuses on customer service skills and covers the insurance market, industry regulation, contracts and policy, according to ANZIIF.

"The need to train service providers is vital for both insurance companies and the service providers themselves, to ensure the best possible service and results for the claimant," Fletcher said.

"Making a claim can be a very stressful and difficult time, and the service provider may be the only personal contact that a customer makes during the claim process."

The cost of the course is $215. Further details can be on the ANZIIF website.
