In a bid to tackle Australia's underinsurance problem, Securitor will launch workshops to upskill its advisers.

The lack of insurance-focused education and training for advisers is contributing to Australia's chronic underinsurance problem, dealer group Securitor has said.

To tackle the issue, Securitor is collaborating with a number of insurance providers to launch an adviser education program, the Integrated Insurance Services Panel, the group said.

AIG, Asteron, Aviva and ING will join Securitor on the program. A fifth potential insurance provider is yet to be named.

"These organisations will share their expertise to help tailor insurance workshops, and provide relevant industry speakers and content material," Securitor head Neil Younger said.

The program will offer a number of different workshops on a range of insurance matters, at basic, intermediate and advanced levels.

"Workshops will improve advisers' understanding of different clients' needs and circumstances, and help them to more easily identify appropriate insurance products, strategies and solutions," Younger said.

The program will initially be available to Securitor's 450 advisers, however, it will be extended to include licensee services clients in the future, he said.

Securitor intends to launch the program later this year.
