St George bank's head of insurance Sean West has departed the group to join rival ANZ.

West joins ANZ as managing director wealth of its Asian operations, and will lead the strategic growth in investment and insurance in ANZ's selected Asian markets.

St George general manager for product Dean Thomas has been named as West's replacement.

"Dean Thomas is a highly skilled, knowledgeable member of the executive team and has taken the lead in our product development over this past period, including a lot of the work improving our insurance offer - which launched earlier this week," a St George spokesperson told InvestorDaily.

Prior to his role as St George general manager insurance, West was head of advice business solutions for St George's funds administration and financial advice business Asgard Wealth Solutions.

Earlier this week, St George announced it has signed on a new life insurance partner in AIG Life. The banking group was previously with Tower Australia.
