The newly established First Super has appointed a chief executive following the merger of three industry funds.
First Super has hired Graeme Russell as chief executive of the newly merged fund.
In January the trustee boards of industry funds, Furniture Industry Retirement and Superannuation Trust, Pulp and Paper Workers' Superannuation Fund and the Timber Industry Superannuation Scheme (TISS) agreed to merge to create one fund, First Super.
Russell said his immediate plans are to "bed down the merger" and "to promote additional services and benefits that are now available to members from the furniture and pulp and papers industry.
"The merger means that these members will get access to pension products, significantly better insurance arrangements under the benefits of a public offer fund," he said.
Russell has served as a fund trustee on industry fund TISS and was Just Super's deputy chair.
He has also worked on the merger between Just Super and Print Super as well as First Super.
First Super has appointed Frontier Investment Consulting as the fund's asset consultant.
The merger which will be finalised on July 1, 2008 and First Super will manage over $1.5 billion in funds under management and have more than 75,000 members.
