Schroders adds to equities team

Schroder Investment Management has hired Gregg Taylor to its Australian equities team.

Schroder Investment Management has hired Gregg Taylor to its Australian equities team.

Taylor will work as an Australian equity analyst and will report to head of Australian equities Martin Conlon.

The firm has been on a hiring spree in the past 18 months.

In May 2007, it snapped up Credit Suisse Asset Management Australian equities chief Andrew Fleming.

Fleming joined the Sydney office as senior portfolio manager.

In December, Alex Mears came on board as an Australian equity analyst. The Australian equities team now includes 14 people.

"In our view it's important that our Australian equities research is supported by a large team," Schroders chief executive Greg Cooper said.

Analysts in the team cover large and small cap company stocks.

"We feel this approach allows our analysts to look at the whole spectrum of companies, including under-researched stocks," Cooper said.
