Australia Day Honours recipients revealed

Members of the financial services community have been recognised in the Australia Day 2015 Honours List over the weekend.

In the ‘Member (AM) in the general division’ category, Yellow Brick Road executive chairman Mark Bouris has been recognised for “significant service to the finance industry, particularly the home loan mortgage sector, to education and to charitable organisations”.

Mark Barnaba, chairman of the Macquarie group in Western Australia and a professor of investment banking and finance, has also been awarded an AM for “significant service to the investment banking and financial sectors, to business education, and to sporting and cultural organisations”.

Former chair of the Code of Banking Practice Review Richard Viney, a regulatory consultant, also received an AM for “services to the finance and insurance sector as a contributor to consumer protection and dispute mediation”.

Stockbroker and former ASX vice chairman Michael Shepherd has been named an 'Officer (AO) in the general division' for “distinguished service to the disabled, particularly as a strong advocate for the hearing impaired, to community health through leadership and governance roles, and to financial services”.

The governor-general also awarded an AO to former Australian Accounting Standards Board chairman and CEO Kevin Stevenson for “significant service to business and commerce through reforms in national and international accountancy standards”.

Statewide Super chair Juliet Brown was awarded a 'Medal (OAM) in the general division' for “service to the community through roles with health, transport, financial and business organisations”.
