Equipsuper has appointed a new director following the retirement of Trevor Birkbeck.

Equip has appointed Jane Simon as a member director to fill the vacancy created by Mr Birkbeck effective as of 1 January 2015.

Prior to her appointment Ms Simon held senior roles with Goldman Sachs and JB Were, where she was a partner and executive director of private wealth management.

Ms Simon currently holds a number of board and committee positions including chair of Carey Baptist Grammar School, together with investment committee roles for Deakin University and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne’s charitable fund.

Equip chairman Andrew Fairley said Ms Simon’s appointment will add a “greater depth” of governance and investment experience to the board.

“We are extremely pleased to have attracted someone of Jane’s calibre and expertise to our board. She is an extremely well-credentialed and respected investment professional and company director.

“Her involvement in the investment and wealth management industries for over 30 years will be very valuable to us as we continue to evolve as a contemporary, progressive fund, focused on delivering financial security in retirement for our members,” Mr Fairley said.
