The Infrastructure Fund has appointed a former KPMG partner to the role of portfolio manager to oversee its investment decisions.

In a statement, the fund’s trustee The Private Capital Group (TPCG) announced former KPMG exec Jonathon van Rooyen would assume the leadership role.

Mr van Rooyen has been with TIF’s investment manager Hastings Funds Management for over seven years, according to the statement.

He led the fund manager’s entry into the Asian market and worked as the portfolio manager for the National Pension Service Corporate Partnership Fund, it said.

Prior to joining Hastings, Mr van Rooyen was a partner in KPMG Corporate Finance’s valuation practice, as well as the director of InterLink Roads, Statewide Roads and Envirogen Pty Ltd.

TPCG chairman Bob Lette said the trustee was impressed with Mr van Rooyen’s experience and vision.

Mr van Rooyen replaces Peter Siapikoudis, who will assume the newly created role of portfolio manager, Australian mandates within Hastings, the statement said.

“Our focus is on delivering consistent returns to investors, and I’d like to personally thank Peter Siapikoudis for his invaluable work achieving this during the past six years,” Mr Lette said.

“Looking ahead, we’re excited by the skills and insights Jonathan can bring to the role as TIF enters its next growth phase.”

Over the 10 years to June 2014, TIF has returned more than 16 per cent per annum, the statement said.
