Lifeplan Funds Management has appointed a new business development manager (BDM) to replace Greg Bird who has been promoted to the role of national BDM.

Paul Bugg has been appointed to the position of BDM for the states of Victoria and Tasmania, following the promotion of Mr Bird to the newly created role of national BDM in October.

Lifeplan head of specialised product sales Derek Emery said Mr Bugg’s appointment fills an important role in the business following the promotion of Mr Bird.

“[Mr Bugg] is a senior appointment and he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry,” Mr Emery said.

“His broad range of experience spans strategy and program development, as well as business mentoring and coaching to assist advisers to develop their skills and capacity,” he said.

“Paul’s own experience as a financial planner will be invaluable in further building Lifeplan’s relationships with financial advisers in Victoria and Tasmania,” Mr Emery said.

Prior to working for Lifeplan Mr Bugg was a practice development manager with Macquarie Group.

Mr Bugg has also held positions with BT Financial Group as a practice development consultant, and also a financial services manager for Commonwealth Financial Planning.
