The former managing director of IOOF-aligned dealer group MyAdviser has taken up an MD position at non-institutional financial planning group MyPlanner.

Former MyAdviser boss Philippa Sheehan has resurfaced at MyPlanner, following her departure from the IOOF stable in July.

Ms Sheehan has confirmed to InvestorDaily that she has joined the group as managing director of the MyPlanner Australia business, based in the Gold Coast, as it looks to grow its network.

“[I’m] excited to be back with an independent who focuses on unbiased delivery of service to advisers, and objective-based advice to clients,” Ms Sheehan said.

Ms Sheehan headed up the MyAdviser dealer group for 10 years, the past two of which were as an executive within the IOOF group following the acquisition of Perth-based licensee Plan B in 2012 (which held 93 per cent of MyAdviser).

MyPlanner was formerly known as SMSF Partners and is part of the Queensland-based Mardell Group headed by David Mardell, officially changing its name with ASIC in June.

The non-aligned group was successful in snapping up a number of former authorised representatives of Custom Wealth Solutions after the licensee went into administration earlier this year.

At the time, one of the former CWS authorised reps – now with MyPlanner and speaking on condition of anonymity – speculated that the name change was an attempt to “broaden from self-managed super and look like a fully-fledged dealer group”.
