Property investment professionals face regulation and accreditation, PIAA chief warns.
Residential property investment specialist and financial planner Margaret Lomas has been appointed Property Investment Association of Australia (PIAA) chairman.
The Destiny Financial Solutions founder will take the position from PIAA founder and inaugural chairman John Hopkins on January 1.
PIAA's mission is to create standards, accreditation and training for property investment advisers and property professionals.
"With regulation and accreditation for property professionals in the pipeline, I am excited about the positive impact the PIAA will have on the industry," Lomas said.
Chittaway Bay, New South Wales-headquartered Destiny Financial Solutions won the 2007 Australian Business Award for Best Value in the finance and investment services category.
Lomas was also crowned 2006 Telstra NSW Business Woman of the Year.
Destiny has 12 branches run by franchisees plus an online virtual branch. It also runs Destiny Mortgage Solutions.
Lomas has more than 30 investment properties and has written six books.
The PIAA, in conjunction with registered training organisation DeakinPrime, has released a property investment advice accreditation. More information can be found at www.piaa.com.au.
