Ibbotson appoints chief investment officer

Ibbotson Associates Australia, a unit of Morningstar’s investment management group, has appointed Andrew Lill as chief investment officer, Asia-Pacific.

Reporting to Morningstar's global chief investment officer, Daniel Needham, Mr Lill will be responsible for leading the investment management teams in the Asia-Pacific region and contributing to Morningstar’s global investment committees, policies, capabilities, and thought leadership.

Mr Lill has 20 years' experience in advising and managing institutional funds and investment teams.

He joins Morningstar from AMP Capital as head of investment solutions in the multi-asset group.

Prior to this he was head of investment specialists at limited assets.

Mr Lill  has also held various roles at Russell Investment Group, Lane Clark & Peacock and Watson Wyatt. 

Mr Needham said he was pleased to have Mr Lill as part of the team. "His extensive background in investment management, consulting and advice, asset allocation, portfolio construction and related fields will enable him to make a major contribution to our goal of building a leading global investment management business,” he said. 

Mr Lill said he looked forward to “contributing to Ibbotson and Morningstar Investment Management's goal of creating better pre- and post-retirement investment outcomes for institutions, advice groups, and their clients in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.”
