Former Melbourne-based Matthew Steer Chartered Accounts financial planner and accountant Mark Williams has established Prosper Accounting.

Former Melbourne-based Matthew Steer Chartered Accounts financial planner and accountant Mark Williams has established Prosper Accounting.

The practice, in the coastal town of Agnes Water in Queensland, is under the Premium Wealth Management franchise. Williams started working in the industry in 2000 at H&R Block as a tax accountant but he found it restrictive.

"People that go into business take on a certain level of risk and should have every opportunity to be able to convert their efforts into wealth," he said.

He gained a Diploma of Financial Services in 2003.

"Currently it's just me and one assistant working, but I do have aspirations of growing Prosper Accounting and I have a clear two-part succession plan," he said.

The succession plan involves firstly achieving the key performance indicators and secondly then allowing the profits to be distributed to staff or used to take up equity.
