New appointment a sign of commitment to growth outside Australasia.

In line with the expansion of its global investment capabilities into Asia, AMP Capital Investors has appointed Anthony Fasso as the managing director of its international business.

Based in Hong Kong, Fasso will report to AMP Capital Investors managing director Stephen Dunne from early next year.

Fasso's new role will encompass establishing partnerships where appropriate in key target markets and offering clients the best investment opportunities across a range of asset classes.

Most recently, Fasso had been the chief executive of AXA Rosenberg Asia Pacific and AXA Investment Managers Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for $4 billion in assets under management.

Prior to that, Fasso was director of private wealth management at Deutsche Asset Management in Australia, a position that followed his appointment as chief executive and head of institutional asset management of Bank Julius Baer & Co Limited in Hong Kong.

Fasso also held several senior positions at BT in Asia and Australia, including the role of managing director of BT Funds Asia where he established their institutional funds management marketing business and was responsible for its joint ventures in Asia, its local asset management subsidiaries and its retail unit trust business.

Fasso will take over from Michael Clarke, who will become a strategic adviser on Asia for the AMP Group.

Dunne said the appointment is the next step in fulfilling AMP Capital's offshore growth ambitions and further builds its international investment management capabilities.

"To achieve our growth objectives we need to further expand outside our traditional Australasian markets to grow our business," Dunne said.

"Anthony brings with him a strong record of building business success, both organically and through setting up joint ventures," he said.
